It's destiny that I came across your posting.. like you, I am an RN waiting for the DS230 approval also since Oct.2006.. believe it or not ,I was also informed by the NVC to resubmit a new DS230 because the previous one I submitted last year was already outdated. Now, I sent them the updated DS230 last June 27,2007.
I really want to ask if in your opinion, or if you have some positive information regarding this…do we still have a chance of receiving an embassy interview and medical exam schedule before October 2007?

This is wrong. EAD can be issued when both of the following conditions MUST meet:
I140 has been approved
I485 application is 180 days old
You have no freaking idea what you are talking about. one should not open his/her mouth so confidently without reading documents from USCIS or talking to an immigration lawyer.

H1B. I was with same employer for 8 yrs and applied for 140/485 but both got denied as attorney made a mistake in labor and 140 stating that I will be working only from my employers chicago office and eventually my employer closed chicago office before my 140approval and USCIS raised RFE for that and denied stating that my application is no longer eligible due to closure of office....So I hired an new attorney and filed appeal. Meanwhile I started all over again with another employer and got new labor/140 approved and switched recently. Now I am on 11'th yr H1B.
Now to answer ur question on what if previous employer revokes your approved 140, it will not effect and you can still retain and port the PD to the new employer at the time of filing a new 140 with another employer....what that means is that you can still switch the employers and still retain ur PD

My lawyer advised against filing AC21 proactively. His opinion is that it may trigger a big RFE requiring financial details of the new employer. How true is this? I have a feeling my previous employer might withdraw my approved I-140 on the advice of their corporate lawyers (Fragomen, who I believe recommend I-140 withdrawal as past of their standard procedure when an employee leaves). I would like to preempt that and file AC21 documentation.

June 20 is the RD (paper filing). Service center is Texas. EAD expires on Sep 24th.
Case status is still "Pending"!
I applied on June/25/2008 (Efilling) for me and spouse. My receipt date was on June/26/2008 for both EAD and AP. Still waiting for approval.

Please never ever try to argue or act smart in front of a thug/carjacker/burglar. People get into these issues and keeps haunting them for years. I know a friend, who has a domestic violence record in 1999 or so and till date cant get a US citizenship because of that. Same with another guy who got a DUI in the 90s. Another guy in 2002, in order to bypass blocked traffic went to the other side (like they do in India often) and paid thousands to a lawyer to deal with the litigation with Police.

We have spoken to AILA about this and we're regularly in touch with many other immigration lawyers. As logiclife had pointed out the interest of AILA is elsewhere. In fact my company's immigration lawyer told us earlier that it is not in the interest of companies to shorten the green card process.
There are only very few broad minded lawyers like Rajeev Khanna, Mathew Oh and Shusterman who support our cause. For after all if we get our GCs quickly, the lawyers will not get money for H-1 extensions, EAD extensions, AP extensions and so on. Moreover if the GC process becomes simple and quick, many people might self petition and cut out the the middleman.
Another thing to note is that, AILA has very little support from Republicans.

It will be intersting to see how Indian Economy will flare, which is essantially driven by Outsourcing, which will take the greatest hit.
Remember Indian Economy's engine is outsourcing, once it starts to see the $ exchange pressure, forget about people coming to US, think of what will happen to standard of lving in Inida.
Can India still maintain the new glow with dollar coming down , I doubt as the Govt of India has not made any big steps to make permanent changes to infrastructure set up.
More Mc Donalds, Pizza Huts, Starbucks, Wal Marts will come up in addition to Coke and Pepsi and also mor eand more American companies will come there and pick up the money.
So they will neutralize
