No need to be scared of CIR. Even CIR is passed in current form US will reward right people those who are ready to take challenges. However My I-485 has been pending since June 2005. If it was a medical question RFE they should have found out when it was applied: "initial evidence" (or within six months) or does this happen only when the case is picked up for processing ?
Also this brings up a good point as to what possible reasons can there be for which a RFE can be raised at this point in time (RFE for "additional evidence") ?
1) EVL with current job desc, compensation and full-time employment
2) Last few/All years Tax Returns/W-2. Recent Paystubs.
3) Evidence of legal status throughout the stay in US

No. I changed to a different company with same position.
It is more than likely a computer glitch but it's always worth it to check with the USCIS. A few years ago the status on one my approved old H-1B cases changed from Approved to Initial Review. It shows the same (Initial Review) status till date. It did not affect my current and/or future H-1B approvals.

I am guessing you had a 3 years extension after your 6 years and in your 7th year you transferred over just as a normal H1b would have done. Correct? So in this case, what is the significance of I-140 since your new emplyer will have to apply for PERM and LC again in any case?

I'm in my 7th and my H1B is expiring this June. My new employer filed for a three year extension using my approved 140 copy.
I-140 can be used to reclaim the old priority date.

I understand the 10-day rule, but when does the clock start?
The date of lease starting or the date of actual move.....ideally these shouldnt be too far apart, but in my case they will be, hence the confusion.

You need to verify what they are feeling and why they are filling in forms.
Should have knowledge of process and you should be fine with any Attorney.
Unless you go to THE CHEAPEST ATTORNEY who never has experience in handling tough scenarios.

Hey everyone,
I am from Florida and just filed my I-485. I went to the DMV yesterday to renew my drivers license and something unexpected happened. They took away my old license and gave a temporary one valid for 30 days. They also said they will have to verify my immigration status and once this is done they will mail my new drivers license. Has anyone had such an experience? How long did it take to get your new license?

It's actually a myth that a longer lens requires a higher aperture. For the same framing, you get the same DOF (Depth Of Field) for the same aperture, whether you use a 600mm telephoto lens or a 4.5mm ultra-fisheye. - Mats
You are technically correct of course, but for practical purposes, if Shannon's primary goal is trying to capture a good depth of field of a child running around, and based on Shannon's comment about the willingness to crop, DOF will be easier to achieve with a wider lens.
Having said that, it was good for you to provide the rest of the story as it may be the basis of decisioning as the skills improve.

My parents are scheduled to travel on Monday via delta flight to India via Paris. As you all know all European flights are either cancelled or postponed and paris airport is currently closed. Their I-94 date is 19-April.
They will travel on next available flight if we find that monday flight is cancelled (which is likely). Assuming that their travel is cancelled or postponed, it is evident that they will most likely pass their I94 date.
What should we do in such situation? Just trying to understand any steps we need to take in advance if we have to notify any authority etc.

My corporate attorney told me that one is okay as long as one doesn't sya beyond 180 days from expiry without applying for a renewal, so you have 6 months to apply.
Better check with an attorney, but I am sure you are just fine.
Also, we had a 'nunc-pro-tunk' situation, but that kicks in only after 180 days , so I told.

u don't need to go for "visa stamping" to maintain status (know that status and visa are different)
notify the school of your change of status like the other guy/gal said. that's all you will need to do keep staying in the US legally.
....But if you want to travel while on H1, then yes: you need to go for "visa stamping".

Spillover from Family to Employment will occur for FY 2010-2011. Not for September.
Family spillover for 2009-10 is approximately 10500, and is already allocated.
We wouldn't know this number until DOS publishes Immigration Statistics for 2010.
My lawyer says there is going to be about 5-10K spillover from Family to employment based. Gurus can you estimate how much dates will move if that happens. I am hoping nothing for EB3 though :(
