according to a recent news item, the house speaker needs the support of at least 70 republicans to even consider a vote:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has told the White House she could not pass a bill with Democratic votes alone, nor would she seek to enforce party discipline on the issue.
Bush would have to produce at least 70 Republican votes before she would consider a vote on comprehensive immigration legislation. Garnering such support might be very difficult for a president saddled with low approval ratings.
Democratic conservatives, particularly freshmen who seized their seats from Republicans, had to weather a barrage of attacks on the issue before their victories in November and are not eager to relive the experience, party aides and lawmakers say.

This is true that EB3 people are going to stay for longer period( no one knows how long).
I am not sure that how much would be fruitful to port from EB3->EB2. Everone knows that it is not easy.
IV team should think and decide the next course of action for EB3.

10th is almost over and I thought we had this trend that when USCIS wants to maintain status quo they publish bulletin early in the month and if the bulletin is delayed there is strong probablity that there will be some positive movement
I have seen same trend for last two years. Reason was simple for last two years as they want to see demand for current month and then predict cutoff date for next month. But I don't see that same thing will happen again. As DOS must know remaining of visa # for fiscal year and also since USCIS has pre adjudicated at least 140k cases they should not take long time to calculate cutoff date.
Their job is piece of cake now. But I was wondering that since till last month it was really game of guess for VO so he was not following Mid month date ( generally 15th or around ) to release data. But now he has clear picture in mind so he may wait till Mid month which is Friday to release data.

Dude you pay taxes for all the facilities that you are enjoying in this country.... nothing is free here.
No one asked anyone to come to this country. But when we came here few years back, we were told that there are set of procedures in place to get green card. Congress never intended to make people for 10 years to get their green cards. So no one asked us that wait for 10 years either. But we paid taxes for all those 10 years. And my tax $$$, government has decided to bailout banks telling them not to hire me. Again, no one asked me how they will spend my tax $$$ just like no one asked me to come to this country.
Sense of entitlement comes from sense of connection and sense of what we deserve. I am entitled to permanent residency because my wife and I have paid around 1/2 million in taxes in last 10 years, more than 99% of ALL AMERICAN FAMILIES. So don't tell us what we are entitled and what we are not entitled for, because that's ridiculous.

With republican House there is zero chance of anything happening on any kind of immigration bill. Nothing other than border security will be taken up. It will be best to kiss good bye to GC dreams if republicans win the House.

EB2 India PD came only up till April 2004 before it retrogressed. There is no way anybody whose PD is between April to Sept 2004 could have applied before July 2007. They might have applied only in July 2007 when USCIS made EB2 PD current by mistake.
Before retrogression started in "October 2005 Bulletin, Nov 2005 effective", there are quite a few people who applied for I-485 and had PD upto sept 2004. Those cases are approved. I know couple of cases myself.

Here Indians including me came for luxury life and better career though most of them available in India because here there is no availablity of skills. There seems to be a lot of misconceptions on what to do when stopped by CBP (Customs & Border Protection), colloquially known as "Border Patrol".
Border Patrol Agents are federal agents and answer to no state/local authorities except their own. Despite misconceptions on their authority and the civil rights issues of road blocks, Border Patrol agents are authorized to detain and make arrests based on the following -
a. Inability to establish identity
b. Inability to establish immigration status
c. Trafficking - Narcotics, Weapons, Tobacco, Alcohol etc. etc.
d. Detain/arrest felons with federal warrants
e. Enforce laws related to trade agreements/customs
As far as what gives the CBP the right to stop/search you,

As far as making photocopies (Colored / B&W), pre-June 1st, 2009, the law clearly stated that photocopies of official US documents cannot be used as proof of valid status. Aside from being charged from counterfeiting US documents for purposes other than official purposes (application to a US agency), Border patrol will reject such documentation. The only exception after June 1st, 2009 is the following -
"June 1, 2009: ALL persons*, including U.S. citizens and Canadian citizens over the age of 15, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), will be required to present a valid passport or other document such as passport cards, NEXUS or SENTRI cards, or driver's licenses that meet certain security requirements. Children 15 years of age and younger are exempt from the passport requirement, although they will be required to have copies of their birth certificate. (The copy does not have to be certified, xerox copies are ok, but certified is always better.) Teens between the ages of 16-18 who are part of an adult-supervised school, religious, cultural, or athletic group, are also exempt from the passport requirement if traveling by land or sea."
You will be detained if the Border Agent decides that there is enough suspicion to do so but it is up to the discretion of the agent. Technically, you are supposed to carry documentation, IN ORIGINAL. Some exceptions are those who have a valid Driver's License from states who have implemented the "REAL-ID" act.
This is the official FAQ on what you need to carry by the CBP. (PLEASE READ THROUGH IT).

See buddy, there are some people who will cry whatever scenario they are in, and some people who will laugh and be happy in whatever scenario they are in. The key to optimism and happy life is to find someone who has it worse, and realize how fortunate you are. At least you are not having to live in the slums of India. At least you are not having your daughter breathe the polluted air of an Indian metro. At least you have a healthy family and no medical emergencies to worry about. You first thought of calling me jerk privately, than changed your mind...Anyway, waiting in this country for 10 years without Green Card, I am certainly a jerk, atleast that's how I felt when I saw the Fijian guy who landed here in 2007 got his Green Card, you are right for that point. First point of your's that I didn't understand was 'I may annoy people'. I acknowledged that in my first post itself. If being ROW I was to get my Green Card in 1 year, I will certainly be unhappy if someone try to make it 2 years...secondly you need to tell me how this effort is going to hurt the entire effort, I am looking for 15-20 volunteers who can work with me on this. Since this is also on IV's agenda so, it is certainly not against IV's goals, But I will try to work only on 1 goal. I am not stopping IV to continue with it's efforts. The whole point is, as we have seen in all the debates, lawmakers see Visa recapturing as new visas. Go around and read some stuff, America is more anti immigrant today than it was ever, in this scenario, getting a bill passed with recapturing Visas etc. sounds impossible to me(I hope I am wrong), but taking of country quota or increasing country limits may be to 15% will bring lot of relief to the hugely baclogged countries...Moreover as I mentioned when a strong lawmaker like Zoe Logfren supports such thing, I'm sure she'll be ready to bring something for it....again don't tell me it is not possible. I know it is impossible, but atleast I'll give it a shot...

Just because we are all feeling the fear of the shrinking economy, doesn't mean that we have to do something, which may even harm the entire effort. Waiting for the right moment is better than doing wrong things at the wrong time and failing.

this is why you shouldnt post images before the due time, people dont give up, its an all level 3d battle, dosent matter how good or bad your skills are, this is so you can develop your skills, i m sure thirdworldman wasnt good straight off the bat, he had to start somewhere too and now his skills are pretty good but im sure he could even tell you when he started people wiped the floor with him, his image is great but its not impossible, the texturing and lighting is what sets it off the rest is some simple modelled geometry.
everyone keep at it, and find a angle to your image which will make yours original.
