Guys --
I got 485 Card production order and welcome notice email yesterday . I am assuming that means I got PR . my company has filed for H1 -B extension last week itself . what will happen to that extension , do we need to revoke/withdraw that petition ?
has anyone being in this situation ?

Do not worry about your H1 extension, it will be denied automatically. Your plastic card should arrive by this weekend, have fun!

I am a July 2nd filer with a priority date of July29,2004 (EB2-I). I did not receive biometric appointment so far. I had a infopass appointment today, and the immigration officer checked the system and generated the FP appointment and I went straight to ASC after Infopass and got my FP done. Officer also confirmed that my name check is cleared last month but had no idea why my file is not assigned to an Immigration officer. She said there are no apparent issues that she can see in the system with my application and she opened a SR for them to look in to my file.

You can give your OPT A# but once you're assigned a permanent visa number, they'll give you a different number. Your OPT A# is just a temporary number.
I think you mean once you are assigned a permanent A# ! It is assigned before a visa number is assigned.
A number series starting with 1 (eg. for OPT) are temporary. Those starting with 9 are permanent.
USCIS has a regular A# consolidation unit as well as a column to check for more than one A# on their internal worksheet for I-485.
Bottom-line: give your OPT A# and they will take care of the rest. This is what I did and worked.

I would not worry about it at this point, this seems to be an internal matter, cases are often transferred to other service centers for speedy processing, sometimes it could be an error also, whatever this might be, this is not something you have control over. If the I-140 becomes overdue you should have your employer call or write to the service center.

My company is closing offices and we all will be working from home. My I140 is cleared and I am in process of extending my H1 which expires in june 09.company has no office at india.
I want to know for how long I can work from India on H1 being on US payrole? The

You must file AC21 letter before your old employer revokes I140. Otherwise, your I485 will be denied. Request your old employer to wait to revoke I140 until you have sent that letter.

Employer cannot revoke I-140 application after 180 days of filling I-485. No matter what the scenario is.
Can someone use AC21 if the I-140 is not approved? I think it is risky because employer can revoke I-140 and you will be OOS

in politics everything is give and take + "my side needs to get the best deal" attitude.
I am conflicted about Dream.
On the one hand, if it passes, the illegal community is pacified for the short term and if legal immigration is taken up immediately, they will not oppose us.
On the other, if it does not pass, we might have to wait for CIR or whatever else. Neither Republicans nor Democrats care to sponsor a bill just for our issues. They will continue to talk about amnesty vs enforcement.
Unless of course, we as a community step up, meet with lawmakers repeatedly, get them to take our issue seriously............

What is interesting is that both Zest2003 and Zenfloater on are EB-3 India with priority dates in Summer 2003. So neither of them has a current PD.
I had three separate conversations in the last few weeks -- with a TSC IO, with staff in Michael Aytes office and with staff in the Ombudsmans Office, all of whom confirmed that cases are not assigned to adjudicators if their priority dates are not current i.e. no preadjudication of retrogressed cases.
I made strong arguments to both staffers about how unjust this is since if dates move, retrogressed cases won't be good to go, and unused visas go to less retrogressed or unretrogressed categories.
Now these two posters on seem to suggest that retrogressed cases are being given to adjudicators....it would be great if other retrogressed applicants posted about what they are hearing.

I e-filed for EAD recently and got my biometrics appointment within two weeks, and got the card about 5 weeks after applying. My wife went through the paper process a few months back, and the card took nearly 3 months to arrive. So from this unscientific test, I think that e-filing is much faster for EAD at least.
