I sent money orders for 485. is there a way to track if money orders were cashed by USCIS..the money already left my bank once the money order was issued by my bank

Please refer to the sec. 8 CFR 214.2 h(11). As per USCIS regulations, the employer is required to notify that the employment relationship has been terminated so that the petition is canceled.

cons:
H1 can be revoked by employer anytime, but they'll have to arrange for return transportation(in my opinion it is not as safe a fallback as it is commonly believed to be) - as always it depends on the employer

Did you send two separate checks for 485 or did you combine them into one? How many LIN numbers did you see on the back of the check for 485?
I had sent one combined cheque for EAD. My company had sent a seperate cheque for 485. I just sw my EAD cheque encashed today and it has two LIN numbers (I presume one for me and one for my wife). Not sure about 485 cheques since my company had sent them.

If you decide to change the last name and if you plan right all of it can be done within 1 week (speaking from experience. changed spouse's last name after 2 years of marriage and it was damn easy).
First plan where changing it is priority..something like:
> Financial (Banks, credit cards, brokers etc.)
> US Govt Agencies
Immigration (Since you have applied for AoS, might wait)
SSN
IRS (will be changed with a new return)
Local towns (only if necessary)
DMV - License
> Passport
> Workplace
then let the spouse make a notarized affidavit that says that she is making the declaration that I am the same as "old name" and "new name" and that I am making this declaration to change the name in official records, agencies etc.
Put new and old signatures and notarize it. Take the affidavit, marriage certificate (assuming that marriage is the reason for change) and then it is a simple cakewalk whereever you go.
SSN as others mentioned would be the first step, second comes passport, with both of these in new name, DL is easy.
The more you wait wider would be the penetration of the old name. That said if ones spouse wants it changed and doesn't do it now, guess will never do it. Sometimes it is only a mental block that it would be tough...thousands get married, thousands change their name. It is a well known issue ;)

saimrathi, I am in the same boat too, got the 693 supplement form last week from DR's office, but we filed 485 application in july 2nd week.this is not our mistake. do we need to worry about this ?
I recd supplementary forms to I-693 for my wife and I from the Civil Surgeon earlier this week. Along with the supplementary forms I recd two envelopes (one addressed to me, and the other one to my wife) that had DO NOT OPEN written on them. I sent these to my lawyer's office.
I called the doctor�s office and this is what I found out. Apparently, when the doctor had first given us the sealed envelopes (in June 2007) she didn�t know that the Supplementary form needs to go with the certification she provided us in the sealed envelopes. We sent the sealed envelopes with our Concurrent I-140 = 485 application recd at NSC on 7/2/07 (as per UPS). Now, some of her clients have recd letters from USCIS asking for the Supplementary form, so she has sent the same out to all of her clients regardless of them getting a letter from USCIS. I hope our application doesn�t get rejected due to this; no checks cashed as of today.
My lawyer's response: No the application should not get rejected because of this...however we will submit the supp doc's report to the USCIS when we get the receipt notices.
Anyone else in the same boat? Is this something to worry about? See signature for more info...

They sent an biometric appointment on 8/10. Not sure if it was becasue I called them or the address change.
also it went to the old address. wonder why ? I have to call them and confirm again.
Also got an email from CRIS saying "additional info needed" not sure if they mean the biometrics or they need something else.

I 'm no expert. But what Veni001 is telling is incorrect. Even though you didn't apply for 485 you still can use that 140 and use that date.
There might be a little problem if the 140 is revoked. But you can certainly try.

Employer pays everything except for my EAD/AP as my H1 is valid till 2010. And fortunately, USCIS surgeon billed my medical exams to my insurance. Not sure if it'll come back and bite me but as of now I didn't pay a dime :)

Does they process premium processing like this?
