Only took two songs to convince me.... I immediately downloaded everything Katie Melua has available on iTunes and am enjoying her beautiful voice even as I type.... I wish her new album were on iTunes, too, but I can check the local music stores next time I'm there and pick up the actual CD.

One of the hardest things to remember when using R compared to other programming languages, is that almost everything you do is a vector operation. When you do q <- 0, R is going to apply the "<- 0" to the entire vector of q. And if you haven't created q before this, q will just be set equal to either 0 or 1. What you're asking R to do is if any value in socscore is less or equal to than 3, assign 0 to q, otherwise assign 1 to q. I'm assuming you want q to be a vector of 0's and 1's corresponding to whether socscore <= 3 or not?
There are a couple ways to do that. You can either use a loop:

Nice shot, would be nice if there were less clouds around the mountain as it covers a lot of it up and is distracting. Plus would use just a very slight increase in vibrancy just to make the colours pop a bit more. also slightly increase contrast through Levels... again only a touch. that's only from my personal point of view though. I've been watching eBay and other forums for a couple of years waiting for the right time to unload my banners. I worked at CompUSA during the 2004 remodel of the "Apple Shop" and when we took down the huge 4 foot x 15 foot ones that hung from the ceiling and put up the ugly plastic ones I took 2 of the 3 that we had. I have Amelia and Jim Hensen. I saw someone on worthpoint auctions asking $25,000 for one about 6 months ago. I can't find anyone to tell how much they could be worth. I'm one of the watchers on your eBay auction right now by the way, just curious to see if anyone bites at your $1200 price tag.

Well I agree with the original review completely this thing is just awesome and i have had absolutely no problems (sometimes its slow to wake from sleep but thats OS X). It's not to heavy to carry long distances in my opinion but I am a football player so I do alot of weightlifting. As far as the trackpad goes its fine not slow at all. Oh and by the way the couple times I have taken this thing out in public I havent felt akward just a little envied :p . Seriously though you will have people coming up to you asking about it all the time, they all assume its a sony vaio until I shoot that idea down a quick lid close and they know it's apple all the way :D

This is crazy DO these people really think this would work? Myself I know they are only thinking of themselves or their church or people who think like them. They can't possibly want everyone to have this law.

Ok, I currently have a Ti 15" powerbook, but WILL SOON be buying a new 12" powerbook (as SOON as they update the line). I was going to purchase I thought a new 17" Apple LCD Display, but found out that the companies that were quoting the price had none in stock.
So... I have two options. One being purchasing an apple studio display on ebay, or just go out and purchase a new 19" LCD display.
My question for discussion would be: 1) would you consider buying a used LCD monitor off of ebay? 2) What new 19" LCD would you recommend in the $450 price range?

My critique for the console version of the game is that as far as I know, you can't do much if anything with mods. This game can really use them. For some reason Bethesda created some of the ugliest characters I've seen in a game. This can be fixed with a character appearance mod. I played it for a year on my PC and loved every minute of it. Knights of the Nine is a worthy if not small expansion. I finally burned out with the Shivering Isles. And for perspective, I don't care for Fallout3.

MV stands for Delta, 9 means 20 means 20weeks. This one is made by Delta in May, 2009.
ZZ stands for Liteon, Samsung with R start.
These may change in future, and I don�t know the meaning of 0G9J81WA, if somebody knows pls tell me.
Conside manufacturer�s name is showed on case, you could check whether serial no. is the same with manufacturer. And choose the date in 2010 would be better than 2008.
Someone make high-copy serial no. please don�t choose adapters only accord to it.

I was in a similar, ish, situation. Other half has Pokemon Black, but our DS Lites don't like our WiFi (how dare we use WPA...), so we decided to upgrade one unit to something more modern.
Initially we bought a 3DS, but sent it back within a few days. The handling of DS games on the upper screen isn't that good to be honest (scaling issues), and we felt the 3D was a waste of time and money. Instead we picked up a new DSi for �95 (love airports), and it's great - less than half the cost, far superior battery life, and also supports WPA and the DSi store.

This makes a lot of sense. I suspect we may see this transition far faster than we think. What if Apple were to announce an AMD powered Power Mac at MWSF? From a software standpoint it seems almost unthinkable, but if they've found some way to do it with a minimal impact..... hmmm....

Are you looking for a text editor or a WYSIWYG editor? If you want a text editor then i would look at Coda (http://www.panic.com/coda/) or PHPStorm (http://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/). Both are pretty powerful IDE's for web design.

Hurricanes are a "random" occurence.

Next year can be less or far worse than this year. There is no telling. if it IS as bad next year as this year, we as a country are f*cked but thats what we get for living on planet earth I guess.
Get a helmet, hurricances are nothing like earthquakes. You know when a hurricane will hit welll in advance, making them not "disasters" in the same sense an earthquake is a disaster.

And while I will take anychance to bad motuh Dubbya, Global Warming from a scientific (NOT environmentalist) point of view cant be proven.
All the data on global warming is only a few decades old. And over GEOLOGICAL TIME, which is how weather and the way the Earth functions is measured, this is less than a fleeting moment.
So with that in mind, just cuz the last few years have been "hotter" doesnt mean that it will continue that way. As it stands you cant predict global warming anymore than you can predict the coming of the next ice age. It takes too long for permanent changes in the earths environment. How long did it take to go from methane and CO2 to a 28% oxygen atmosphere, ~BILLIONS of years. So 20-50yrs of "global warming" data isnt enough and never will be.
But it cant be ignored that greenhouse gases and all that toxic crap IS BAD FOR THE PLANET.
So your assertation is that since nature takes a long time to make changes on it's own, any changes we make much faster will be OK. That makes sense, insomuch as now i know that the anti-global-warming people just aren't applying any logic anymore.

I'm just really learning about this type of technology, so I'm curious: what makes a SSD different when erased compared to a traditional disk-spinning HD? I had always heard that, with a traditional HD, even if you erased/reformatted the drive and threw it away that some savvy tech types could somehow either restore your drive or get file fragments to get information, etc? Maybe that's just paranoid urban myth, but that's what I had always heard. What, technologically speaking, makes a SSD different in terms of not retaining old data when erased? Just curious.

I just posted a bunch of my apple vinyl banners on ebay, but one in particular almost made me cry when I posted it. It is a 4ft x 4ft Thomas Edison vinyl banner. It used to hang over my head every day back in 1998 when I was selling macs at a compusa. I always felt like he was watching me and encouraging me to introduce people to Macs (mostly iMacs) for the first time. One day I was asked to take down Edison, Buzz, Ghandi and Hitchcock and put them in the trash compactor out back. Naturally, I said to hell with that idea and snuck them to my car. How could any Mac fan ever be expected to destroy anything so beautiful. Well, I got caught with them, but the manager let me keep Buzz and Edison and he took the other two. Now I put Edison on ebay and I'm already regretting it. Did I do the right thing?

I am not fluent in Perl but I do use Python at my work. I am mainly a C++ developer. I find Python easy to use and quite powerful for the things you listed. There are many 3rd party libraries that will help with most things you need to do. A SSH client called Paramiko was VERY helpful to me for logging into servers and transferring files and running commands. This site may help get you started with Python and Paramiko's SSH library.

Just make sure you get a Python debugger if you go that way. I use Eclipse with Pydev. I am sure others may suggest a better debugger. It is adequate for my needs.
