As for pricing considerations, refurb. 3rd gens (4gb) start at $99 in the apple store, ipod2sell suggests $80. That is, of course, without the engraving to consider. I would, however, reemphasize that aside from the engraving, the iPod is in pristine condition.

Oracle did no such thing. Were you maybe thinking of Sun? Many years ago?
You gotta admit, those are some of the fugliest and un-Mac-like applications out there.
Sorry, I meant Oracle have discontinued their Oracle database for OSX.. the last release for OSX was Oracle 10g. Oracle is now 11g.
Agreed - they aren't particularly pretty but since OO v3 things have got better with the use of Aqua. However, I'd rather them look ugly and have them not available on OSX at all...

I have been working on a magazine for this whole week (Quark Xpress v6) and finally got it signed off yesterday. Shut down the computer and had a well earned drink.
When I turned on the computer this morning the document has reverted back to last Tuesday! (meaning a lot of lost work).
Would this have anything to do with changing permissions? (I did play around with file info on some other files.)
I have 15 other jobs going and they all seem to be fine.
I have dual 80gb hard drives - and yes, after every big lot of changes I backed up the job - but the backup drive says the same!! Anyone with any help would be greatly appreciated.

These type of threads are not really permitted on macrumors, however if you go on eBay just type in the model MBP you have, or a similar model of it to get an idea of pricing. Gumtree is good as well.

The second example is really significantly front-focused, and is shot at f/2.8, so I don't think your focus and recompose technique is to blame (I'd expect a lot less change in focus using the slight focus and recompose you've used here).
Did you lock focus on the eyes and then recompose? Is it possible that you re-focused after you recomposed?

Basically you are saying that the case is physically warped and that I should apply torque on the MBA case to fix the warp. That sounds a bit risky. I think I will bring this back.
Yes, that's what I'm saying.
It doesn't need a lot of pressure.
The MBA case isn't very rigid.
You can start with very little pressure.
No harm in bringing it back though.

Hi all,
I need a "cheap", read inexpensive, GSM qwerty keyboard cell phone for my mom. I was going to go on eBay and buy a Blackberry Curve 8310, but then saw it requires a data plan with AT&T. I would like to avoid a mandatory data plan requirement, since she'll never use it.
I just need good audio quality and text messaging.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The late 2008 models run with Core 2 Duos, right? I don't think Core 2 Duos use DD3. They use DDR2, which would mean that you wouldn't be able to use it in your old MBP. Just look under "About this Mac" and it should say what memory it uses.
Later C2D's used DDR3

You could maybe get an older model white one. They were wireless and had a number pad. Like this...

Might be able to pick a cheap one up somewhere?

yeah, i'm not sure what time i'll head to the mall...probably sometime around 6-ish. at&t store is closer to where i live, but come on, who wants to go to an at&t store?
Not a matter of want, but of necessity. I tried the Apple store first, but they just said "duh... what?" when I asked if they could set me up with two phones and a family plan.
Thus, I went to the AT&T store; which is where I'll be at 7am next Friday. Sure, I'd rather be at the Apple store, but ultimately I'd rather have 2 new iPhones.

I recently saw a pc with OSX running on it. And that's neat. I'm mainly a Windows user but I've remained respectful to Apple hardware but I can't stand OSX. It's stable and it's easy to use but I much rather prefer the unrestricted control a knowledgeable user can have over Windows. Thus leads me to my question;
Has anyone gotten or heard of anyone getting Windows to run on a Mac without an excruciatingly slow emulator? Is there any chance of this happening in the future?
In the future it can be done with virtualisation

I had the same heating issues while playing WoW on my 15" Late-2009 MBP. I began looking at coolers and decided on the Rain Design mStand. While not an active cooler, it does lift the notebook off the desk surface, providing better air circulation. The aluminum design also helps dissipate heat. As an added bonus, it looks great too.
