Guys:
We all are aware of the phenomenal progress that IV has achieved in just 3 months. Like any grassroots organization our success is dependent on the wholehearted support we get from our members.
The road is long and hard. I am sure all our hard work is going to pay off. This is not the time to get impatient or frustrated. Remember we are all in this together. Let's be patient and wait for things to unfold.
Thank You.

BharatPremi/PavanV: I had to open an account here just to let you know that what both of you said is the voice of reason and it seems that this forum is just filled with people who have the attitude of attacking the person rather than the argument.
Folks, until you have a US passport in your hand, you can profess love for this country as much as you like but the bottomline is that you are not a citizen. You will not be treated like a citizen and you will not have the rights of a citizen. Even after you have the US passport, "legally" your allegiance is to the US but that is not true of what the US feels about you. Your precious naturalized citizenship can be revoked at any time but that is not possible for a natural born citizen. This divide is real enough that if you kid asks you, "Daddy, why can't you become president?" then you need to know it that no matter how white your brown heart beats, the country on whose soil you were born is the only one which gives you every single right that is given to all its citizen, NOT the USofA.
A. K. Mozumdar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.K._Mozumdar)
"In 1913 Mozumdar became the first Indian-born person to earn U.S. citizenship, having convinced the Spokane district judge that he was in fact Caucasian and thereby met the requirements of naturalization law then restricting citizenship to "free white persons." Ten years later, as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in United States v. Bhagat Singh Thind, stipulating that no person of East Indian origin could become a naturalized American, Mozumdar’s citizenship was revoked. A decision on his appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the revocation"
So, yes, you can kiss as much ass as possible, it will not bring your precious greencard any faster.
Jai Hind
Yes, unfortunately all of them lack the understanding of immigration, reasoning and height of ignorance is that they do not have a clue what is the definition of "NATION" OR the meaning of "citizenship".

FinalGC,
Thanks for posting the above Op-Ed. I was the one who wrote it back in Sept. 2006.
What we need this time around is a basic introductory article describing the Green Card journey to the general public overseas. We will address retrogression and other more specific topics in subsequent articles later.
Best Regards,
Salil

Thanks unitednations,
The information was very helpful for me and others as well.
I think my education evaluation and MCA degree doesn't specifically state that my Master's degree was a three year degree course.
I now have a letter from University stating that it was a three year degree course and we are going for a fresh education evaluation.
I think the lessons learned here is to make sure that the degree and/or EE should clearly state the duration of course.
Any other suggestion or past success is highly appreciated.
Also, my RFE respond date is April 22, 2011 and not March 22nd as mentioned in my orginal post.

While some members might have jumped too hard on the whole thing, Some stuff goes unanswered.
1) Why has not USINPAC endorsed IV all this while on their website? Does not USINPAC know any thing about IV?
2) While I understand the importance of fund raisers for politicians, why USINPAC has not involved US citizens of American origin to contribute to the cause? What about grass roots efforts?
3) I dont have the exact statistics, but I am positive that every one out of 2/3 Indians living in the US is plagued by this problem of GC. How come Orgs like USINPAC are not pushing this by all means?
Forget the media mishap and the outrage of some members, if USINPAC really considers Immigration of Highly skilled Indians, they should be doing some thing. I personally am neither defending the outrage of some members nor appreciating it, but most of the Indian American citizen community does not want to be in sync with the plight of Indians immigrating to US.There are various reasons. Most important one as I have seen, Many in the Indian American citizen / Indian Permanent Resident community run consulting companies and they would hate to see these guys slip away from their hands by getting GC's. Fcuk, its like the damn door closes right behind you. I am positive most of those shops will come down to earth if Indian citzens start getting their GC's. May be its time, the Indian American Citizens/ Indian PR's ask themselves, what they really want. I have been to some Indian regional association meetings and the big guys or folks from my generation ahead would love to see their kids get married to an Indian or would love to see their kids grow with the rich heritage, but damn it, they just want it to happen with out doing any thing.
Dear Nixtor, we should not question that why they do not have IV on their site and they do not cut us any checks. It is their site and they can architect it the way they can. Yes, the Indian Express misquoted Robinderi or may be it was a misrepresentation, we would never know but the good thing is that he has acknowledged the discrepancy. That is where it ends. Robinder has been a very highly regarded ananlyst and a commentator of indo-us relationship. We needs friends with him and not make enemies. It is a different thing that he is associated with USINPAC and we do not agree with their agenda, approach or the way they misrepresent themselves to be the representatives of Indo community in USA. We have about 2.5 million Indians in USA of which about more than half a million are stuck in this green card mess. Any organization that claims to be a representative of Indian community should have this Green Card reform as a very top priority in their agenda, but it was extremely disappointing for the people fighting for this cause when they approached some of these organizations who could provide just lip service and press releases from their chambers and project that they are on the top of the issue and working hard to get the work done. IV has filled this void for a true grass roots level organization with a huge membership base which is truely global, not just Indian and working in an extremely organzied fashion. I am sure that many of the the organizations envy the way we have built the membership base ( we are not a paid membership org) and have individuals roll up their sleeves, go to the fields across the country and work for this noble cause unlike others who are limited to doing press releases, photo opportunities and advertizing to promote them selves.
At the end, time will tell if Immigration Voice would be successful in the agenda it has enbarked on, but what ever the final result be, our efforts would be analyzed for years to come by the ethnic, minority and national groups as to how to unleash the power of the Internet to build and run a grass root level oranization. Can you imagine how it would have been if Internet were available at the time of Mahatma Gandhi? I am sure Robinder has been thinking and analyzing that and we would welcome his analysis.
Peace..!

Pappu,
Please let me know your thoughts..
I-140 is approved. I-485 was filed in July 2007. I have an opportunity to move to another company for a similar job profile. But the new company wants me to work as a contractor (hourly) on W2.
Is that a problem when filing AC-21?
Please advise.

Ok , it may not be right thread to discuss everything here... but
What I am saying is, instead of spending N years waiting for GC, I guess we lead better life elsewhere!
Where else, in our home country... but that reminds me of descremenation again!!
So I thought of place which is not in high demand yet... africa...!
I always believe in making things happen, in stead of waiting for someone doing it for me!!
Dude, you need to be street smart to succeed anywhere. You brag about being from upper middle class but what has that given you here?.. Don't bring up the topic of reservation again, but concentrate on immigration issues.
People here are waiting for years. your's is a recent case, I think it is better for you to start packing. If you are down south, I personally will come to see you off...

hopein07,
Financial planners reccommend term because one would need the coverage until a major mile stone in life is reached - paying off home mortgage, children completing college education, etc.
.
You should have life insurance till your last breath so you could pass huge wealth to your heir for little amount like 1million for $100/month at 60s or 70s of your age

Thanks for your informed comments. Like you, I am also surprised to find many people in this forum, who are interested in fire arms.
I don't own a fire arm and not planning to while the immigration status is not yet Citizenship. I don't want the authorities to give another reason to look into my case. I just go for fishing once in a while.
But our family owns two guns in India and have worked with guns from childhood.
Another point is I am very much impressed with how the Americans manage wild life and the nature in general. They enjoy it while preserving it. India does neither. We just destroy it, and write eloquent speeches on nature protection.
Thank you, always glad to help. Many years ago, I was looking for answers to these questions and had to do my own research, internet forums weren't as big then.
I am a hunter as well, and when I went through hunter education, I was amazed to learn how serious the west was about wildlife and nature conservation. Hunting is a very important part of nature conservation. Every country that legalizes hunting, does so in a controlled manner in order to prevent a biological surplus in a species' habitat.
I don't fish that often, except for the odd deep sea fishing trip when the weather is nice, but anything that can get one outdoors breathing fresh air wins my vote.
godspeed,

Dear friends
For every one of us getting GC is a nightmare. Though USCIS follows a system, I feel it is not correctly followed. Also I noticed that people who have filed before the PERM process are really suffering. There are people who are in EB3, waiting for more than 9-10 years, keeping hope and anxiously waiting.
I feel that we should write to USCIS to clear all the pending GCs (EB2, EB3) filed before PERM (March 31, 2005) need to be processed before they take up any cases filed in PERM.
This will certainly make the process rational.

They hushed up and approved my EAD in 20 days. Why ???? 'cos So they don't hit Jun'30 and give 2 years. They wanted to milk another 680 from me so they hushed up and sent me the 1 year EAD in 20 days.
I guess we all have problems with USCIS, either with their inefficiency (eg. receipt delays during July Fiasco), or sometime with their super efficiency (EAD's getting approved too fast):D

It DOES matter what your PD is. USCIS apparently does process FIFO according to your Receipt date - BUT ONLY IF YOUR PRIORITY DATE IS CURRENT will you get a visa number assigned (i.e. approval of said greencard).
From my understanding, this is correct but if you look at , http://www..com/usa-immigration-trackers/i485-tracker1/ USCIS is approving applications everyday. I am confused because according to the August visa bulletin, all categories are "unavailable" therefore, we shouldn't be seeing any approvals. Please enlighten me on this.

Cash Surrender Value
The sum of money an insurance company will pay to the policyholder or annuity holder in the event his or her policy is voluntarily terminated before its maturity or the insured event occurs. This cash value is the savings component of most permanent life insurance policies, particularly whole life insurance policies. Also known as "cash value", "surrender value" and "policyholder's equity".
Notes:
Cash surrender value applies to the savings element of whole life insurance policies that are payable before death. However, during the early years of a whole life insurance policy, the savings portion brings very little return compared to the premiums paid.

Couldnt agree with you more - absolute magic from ghalib
Actually, the lyrics are from Shahryar.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akhlaq_Mohammed_Khan_'Shahryar'
Just wanted to give the credit to the right guy. Most ppl think of only Ghalib when it comes to Urdu poetry. There are many others too.
And of course, Khayyam's music and Asha's haunting voice contributed to magic too.
