This is key. If the iPhone 4 isn't dropping calls any more often than the 3GS, then there is no real issue at all.....
But Apple admitted that it DOES drop more calls than 3GS.
They spun it as "less than 1 per 100", but assuming all 3,000,000 iPhone 4 users make about 5 calls per day, that's over ONE MILLION dropped calls per week MORE than iPhone 3GS.
It's a problem.

they should allow users to like or dislike iAds to help cater the iAds that are sent to the user :cool:

In a perfect world it would figure out your specs and use what it can.
Then it is pretty much a perfect world.
The guts of the Image Units are written in a subset of OpenGL Shading Langage and run on either the GPU or CPU as is appropriate for the hardware. But I don't know the gradularity. I think it is on a per Image Unit basis. So (say) "Gamma Adjust" might run on the GPU while "Perspective Transform" might run on a CPU. Where it runs is different dependiig on what hardware you have. Tiger's Core Image has about 100 Image Units and there is a way for programmers to add more. It is reasonable to asume that Aprture adds some of it's own.

actually i think this is what might happen, eventually. But rather than at&t getting the same spec iphone "a" 6 months later, they will get the "b" with some improvements, then the next year verizon gets the "c" 6 months after that and so on... Where they will just keep leap frogging each other. I think the market is moving too fast for apple to continue with just yearly updates.

..but it's still desirable over all the other phones.
Apple can fix some of these issues this summer, if they're not too smug to get off their high horse.

Certainly, if Apple wanted to record my personal position it would make MUCH MUCH MUCH more sense for their servers to simply record the query my phone makes to obtain the portion of the crowd-sourced database that my phone wants to cache. That query could easily include a more exact GPS position (i.e.: give me the part of the cache near this location).
I wonder if Google records my Wifi/GPS location on Google Maps or what locations I searched when using Google Maps. Hopefully, my identity is anonymized before the query is sent to Google for what part of the Maps database to pull down and cache. But again, it would be really easy for anybody to do this on the server side.
Apple used this tacky process you described becuase they obviously wanted to CONCEAL it from users, they certainly would not want the FEDS, Washinton and other agencies to know that they where doing it to them, whether or not they picked certain individuals is a matter Congress will settle, im sure if a mafia or cartel had this type of access they would also monitor wall street and join in on the scams.
And yeah Google does record but they at least give you the option to turn it off which makesd them liable if they intrude, Apple uses suckers and propaganda on forums and BS to cover up their sweatshop companies and 3rd party developers who probably helped them spy on competitors.

Meh, overall I dont' agree with them taking out applications that allow for tethering. Yes it is against the "rules" but I also don't agree that I should be charged to spend the data I'm already paying for a different way than they intend for me to use it.
I have the Nexus 1 and luckily ATT has no direct control over the phone as it's sold through Google and I'm allowed to use the built in tethering application at no charge to me. I don't wirelessly tether often but it does come in handy when I'm in class and there's no wifi or when I'm out or riding in the car.

As soon as someone creates a dual format drive all this fuss will die down. It was the same with DVD +/- . Give it a year and NEC will have a dual format drives for both computers and players and no-one will have to decide.
I'm not sure about what you're saying here, because content producers will still be having to supply the same film in two different formats.
They'll likely drop the less popular format, and thus, we'll have a winner.
DVD +/- is a writing thing. It's not the same, because people don't care where they get their blank discs from as much.
Ick. This whole format war is nasty, but I guess I never understood why Apple decided to support blu-ray over HD-DVD. Seemed like they did it just to go against what Microsoft had chosen. The and the whole Steve wanting crippled hardware for another (his other) company's benefit over computer users...the whole situation stinks.
As a consumer I'm trying as hard as possible to sit this one out. :mad:

I think this is original case of the forthcoming iphone, if you guys look at all apple products, they all are aluminum. And i strongly believe that the new iphone will also be aluminum. This one looks sexy.........

The other day one of my android friends and I were talking- I mentioned my phone was about to die and he asked me why (implying that my battery sucked) and then I said "well I haven't charged it since 2 nights ago" and that shut him up real quick. He said he can't get more than a day out of his phone with just average use. I can get two days easy with my iPhone, and believe me, when I get bored at work I don't put my phone down.

Bill took that concept when he left Apple and started Microsoft, then teamed up with IBM that was looking for a new OS to use with their PC's. Which they would later sell to corporate America, the government, and the military. Also with IBM clones, Windows PC's would become affordable for the average person needing a computer. Hence the reason there are more PC users than Mac users, but that is starting to change as Windows becomes less secure and more bloated.

Seems like a solid update to Aperture. I'm curious to see if there is a flickrexport-type feature included in this plug-in api mentioned. That's the one thing I miss from when I previously used iPhoto.
