Why do people NOT understand, that even Apple, who LOVES aluminum, switched from that to palstic... WHY??? WHY would Apple of all companies do that??? BECAUSE IT DOESN'T WORK WITH THE CELL RECEPTION ON THE iPHONE PERIOD! They are NOT going to go back to aluminum lol! :rolleyes:
Besides that, this is UGLY! Way harsh edges, and the curvature on the back isn't even smooth, there are like sharp angles at the corners. On the iPad this design makes sense, on the iPhone that would be terribly uncomfortable in your hand!

I have one word for you Lossless.
Yeah, already work that way... I already have all my audio collection on a centralized music server. I wouldn't mind an iPod for what it is, but I'm also not the kind of guy that enjoys listening to music through cheesy little earbuds. I can do larger DJ-style headphones in a pinch, but I prefer to listen to my music loud on a good sound system where I can feel it. And if anyone else there doesn't like it, they can just leave. :D
However, I'd like to get back into developing games for a commercial platform and I'd be all over the iPod if Apple would open up an SDK.

Edit: To fix the boxes around the images in IE just use a little CSS

That should solve your woes there. IE likes to default the CSS border on images to visitable.

And by your Logic a $300 eMachine PC is better than an Apple MacPro because Wallmart sells more $300 computers.
I guess Toyota builds better cars than BMW.
If you go only one numbers sold then only software with wide use like web browsers or word processors can "win". A scientific data visualization program could never win not mater how good it is.

Garageband is a great product and is pretty innovative.
I disagree. GarageBand is nothing but a mere childs toy compaired to the likes of Pro-Tools and the Ableton Suite. Even Logic (GarageBand for grown ups) is pretty damn basic compaired to what DigiDesign put into their products.
Steve can say "This is not a toy!" in his demos as much as he likes. GarageBand is a toy.

Oddly enough, from the education store, you can't get the extra discounts. Well at least not on the ipod...but on the government store ... YOU CAN!
I would have save an extra $30 if I went through the gvt store. OOOPS! Hopefully someone else benefits from this post and doesnt make the same mistake! I will probably call apple in the morning and see if I can get the extra savings ... but just a heads up if you are a gvt employee!

Jetson, I'm glad I'm taking your word, as someone who doesn't even own a 5G iPod, over my own, someone who sees 50-60 iPods a day. I couldn't possibly know better.

- License agreement. Apple distinguish between license agreement for iTunes Jukebox and iTunes Music Store and they mean the government have been mixin this up
- License agreement. They will do som smaller adjustments (clarifications) around the issue of changes to the license agreement would have effect on previously purchased music, the intention was not to have any effect on previously purchased music
- License agreement. They will do changes so it will be clearer to the user when the license agreement has been changed
- DRM, usage of iTunes music files in other players than iPod. They do not give in on this, their argument is 1) it is playable on the PC 2) it may be burned on a CD and played on other CD players. They also blend into the argument that Norway has a fairly new law with respect to music download and copy/usage rights and the different plotical parties and politicians have said "this and that" which may support Apples case. I would assume that sooner or later there will be a court case in order to put more details on the law and its interpretation. This may be it (or not).
With respect to this having impact on other countries there are some arguments in the letter which quotes EU/E�S laws, however their DRM arguments is mainly reflecting their interpretation of Norwegian law.

Dividends, yes that would be a good idea, what with $10 billion in cash on hand. Microsoft finally decided that their cash horde was becoming a bit of an embarrassment and declared one.
Microsoft only paid a dividend when their share growth stagnated.
Apple on the other hand has had stellar share growth recently so there is really no need to pay dividends.

I went back and forth with the idea of "needing" 3G but I have an iPhone, hardly ever travel, everywhere I go has WIFI and I have a MacBook and an iMac. I figure with the money I save, I can use on accessories...or just save :-).
Plus, my friend works at Best Buy and gives me half off accessories.
Any recommendations on apps that are must haves?
I went back and forth with the idea of "needing" 3G but I have an iPhone, hardly ever travel, everywhere I go has WIFI and I have a MacBook and an iMac. I figure with the money I save, I can use on accessories...or just save :-).

well i still have 3 main machines for folding, but none are back up to full force.
i don't have any of them running over 3.6 ghz (the fastest now is like 3.55 or so). so right now i'm just running -advmethods instead of -bigadv on 2 of them, and i'm actually using the other one, so no cpu folding right now.
